A degree of freedom performed structural design services for this adaptive reuse of an existing factor , repurposed as a dance studio.
the project included the use of CLT , which we understand was the first approved use of CLT by the NYC DoB.
ADoF provided the structural design for the hotel complex. 6 story hotel residential tower over 2nd floor platform ( out door pool deck, bar and restaurant complex).
The project utilized flat plate concrete floor slabs to maximize ceiling ht, and required long span framing over the ball room , pool area and rooftop bar.
Tricky hydrostatic conditions in the cellar/basement and parking areas had to be overcome.
We wish the ownership, hotel employees the best of luck and hope they are successful. A great addition to the neighborhood
