Today is St. Andrew's Day, the National Day of Scotland.
Scotland has contributed great engineers and inventors, in particular during the "Scottish Enlightenment" of the late 18th Century.
I wanted to give a big thanks to all who organized the AIA ARE bootcamp seminars, in particular Suzanne Mecs of the Center for Architecture and Serena Chen. Serena and I presented 3 structures seminars (11/8/09, 11/15/09 & 11/23/09) which were well attended. I hope the attendees find the information useful and have a 100% pass rate!
I hope we are invited back to present this seminar next year.

Note : at the 23rd November seminar, we noted for exam purposes only, if excluding admixtures, we can approximate a relationship between slump and concrete strength .
2" slump approximates at 5000psi concrete mix or higher
4" equals a 4000psi mix
6" slump equals a 3000psi mix ( sidewalk mix)
In reality, the relationships are more complex.
Wishing all who attended the structures seminar, GOOD LUCK in your exams!
