Structure is a 4-story commerical row house-type building. Front facade was 3 wythe brick laterally restrained by mild steel straps ties to 1 or 2 floor joists
Failure mechanism was likely to be negative pressure (suction) pulling the facade away from the floor joists.
ADoF is now certified as a NYC DoB Special Inspection agency for class 3 projects (projects less than 10,000 sq ft).
We are approved to provide the following special inspections:
Structural Steel — Erection and bolting
Structural Steel —Welding
Structural cold formed steel
Concrete — Cast in Place
Masonry
Structural Safety — Structural Stability
Note: the new DoB regulations come into effect November 14, 2012. Architects and engineers are no longer permitted to perform special inspections unless registered as a special inspector.
