NYU School of Business : Glass stair and bridge

Recently completed egress stair at NYU Stern School of business.
I was responsible for the design of the glass treads and the steel stringers.
The structural glass treads comprise of 3 half inch thick layers of tempered glass spanning 11ft to the steel stringer.
The architects were Perkins +Will.

Really cool structure, I love how the staircase opening brings in light from the higher floors.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if it was on purpose that the beam supporting the middle of the staircase mimics the skylight girders in other parts of the building. The similarities are strikingly clear in these two pictures (http://tinyurl.com/nyu-glass-stairs, http://tinyurl.com/nyu-skylight-girders)
